Healthy colon cleansing foods will allow the body’s digestive system to work in proper manner, while keeping digestive diseases away. Fruits and vegetables are some of the best colon cleansing foods one can find in its natural form. They reduce or even prevent constipation when they are consumed regularly. Nutritionists suggest that taking at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day will go a long way in preventing constipation and digestive complications.

The fiber content in fruits and vegetables can not be digested by the body system, hence they combine with water content in the digestive tracts and make the stool bulky while allowing the intestine to retain its water.

Other essential colon cleansing food is the Yoghurt which contain essentially beneficial bacteria organisms such as acidophilus and lactobacteria. The function of the acidophilus bacteria is to lower the production of bile acid in the colon which also prevents the colon from several colon diseases, while the lactobacteria fight off other dangerous pathogenic organisms in the colon, thereby making the colon healthier.

Yoghurt contains an appreciable amount of calcium substances which naturally do not allow cells to grow on the walls of the colon, colorectal conditions are prevented from colon by consuming an appreciable quantity of yoghurt containing essential calcium substances. Dairy products such as cheese and milk will cause constipation if consumed for a long time, they are not as beneficial as yoghurt, and hence they should be reduced drastically. Organic product remains one of the few beneficial dairy products that supply calcium to the body while boosting the functioning of the bowels.
